Ted è un tassista abbandonato dalla fidanzata, hostess sugli aerei di linea. Per riconquistarla si imbarca sul volo in cui lei è in servizio, ma le sorprese non mancano. Il pranzo servito a bordo è infatti avariato, e tra gli intossicati ci sono i piloti. Sollecitato dalla ragazza Ted, pur non avendo mai guidato un aereo, riesce comunque ad atterrare salvando tutti.
Mentre al 'Lincoln Airport' di Chicago i tecnici cercano di sbloccare un aereo incagliatosi dopo un'abbondante nevicata, su una delle poche piste agibili, un Boeing della 'Trans Global Airlines' parte per Roma. Quando l'aereo è in vista dell'oceano, a terra si scopre che a bordo c'è un dinamitardo deciso a far saltare l'aereo perchè la moglie possa riscuotere un'assicurazione sulla sua vita. Ricevuta la notizia, il comandante Vernon cerca prima di disarmare l'uomo, poi di convincerlo a rinunciare al suo proposito.
