In questo film, il sogno e la realtà formano un mélange indissolubile come vuole la tradizione surrealista, di cui Luis Buñuel è capostipite e maestro.
All'uscita dal teatro, una ventina di persone dell'alta società si ritrovano, per una cena, nella villa di città di Edmondo e Lucia Nobile. Mentre gli ospiti arrivano, i servitori, al contrario, ad eccezione del maggiordomo, se ne vanno con un pretesto o con l'altro, come sotto l'influsso di un presagio. Terminata la cena, il gruppo si riunisce in un vasto salone da ricevimento per ascoltare una famosa pianista. Si fa tardi, e gli ospiti decidono di rincasare: ma ecco, quasi un'insormontabile cortina fosse calata davanti a loro, nessuno riesce più a varcare la soglia del salone. Col trascorrere delle ore, la situazione diventa intollerabile: pur intestardendosi nel voler conservare il decoro del rango e una parvenza di etichetta, pian piano i prigionieri della misteriosa "presenza" si liberano dei loro freni inibitori, rivelandosi per quello che sono: pervertiti, ipocriti, lussuriosi, violenti.
Dieci persone, che non si conoscono tra di loro, sono state invitate da un certo U.N.Owen a trascorrere un fantastico fine settimana su un'isola sperduta chiamata Nigger Island nel Devon: Vera Claythorne, il dottor Edward Armstrong, il vecchio giudice Wargrave, i domestici Thomas Rogers e Ethel Rogers, la religiosa zitella Emily Brent, il figlio del duca Anthony Marston, il generale John Machartur, il detective William Blore e l'avventuriero Philip Lombard. Appena arrivata, Vera nota una filastrocca appesa sul caminetto, e presente in ogni camera, che parla di dieci piccoli indiani che, in seguito a varie disgrazie, muoiono. Quella sera la filastrocca diventa realtà e tutti i personaggi iniziano a morire proprio come scritto fino al colpo di scena finale.

Al Murray's Happy Hour was a chat show presented by comedian Al Murray and produced by Avalon TV. The first series aired in early 2007. It is broadcast on the British terrestrial TV network, ITV, and the first series was broadcast on Saturday nights at 10pm. The second series aired on Fridays at 10pm. A third series returned to ITV on 12 September 2008, in the same 10pm Friday night slot. However, UTV in Northern Ireland did not show the third series in the 10pm Friday night slot with the other ITV regions. They now show it the following Thursday at around 11.40pm, due to UTV regional programming on Friday nights. Murray presents the programme in his Pub Landlord persona: a stereotypically nationalistic, chauvinistic character. The show contains stand-up, guest interviews and live music. The show ends with Murray performing a Queen song with the musical guest.
