フランスの田舎町に暮らす夢見がちな少女ベルは、捕らえられた発明家の父を救出しに行った森の中の古城で、恐ろしい姿をした野獣と対面する。野獣はかつてわがままな王子だったが、魔法によって姿を変えられ、21歳の誕生日までに誰かを愛さなければ元の姿に戻れないという呪いをかけられていた。いつしか惹かれ合うベルと野獣だったが、一方、ベルに想いを寄せる乱暴者ガストンが野獣を倒すため森の城に向かっていた。

美しい娘ベルは進歩的な考え方が原因で閉鎖的な村人たちとなじめないことに悩んでいたが、ある日、彼女は野獣と遭遇する。彼は魔女の呪いによって変身させられた王子で魔女が残したバラの花びらがすべて散ってしまう前に誰かと相思相愛の仲にならなければ元の姿に戻れない。ベルは野獣の恐ろしい外見にたじろぎながらも心惹かれていく。

Detective Catherine Chandler is a smart, no-nonsense homicide detective. When she was a teenager, she witnessed the murder of her mother at the hands of two gunmen and herself was saved by someone – or something. Years have passed and while investigating a murder, Catherine discovers a clue that leads her to Vincent Keller, who was reportedly killed in 2002. Beauty and the Beast is an American drama series which first aired on CBS in 1987. Creator Ron Koslow's updated version of the fairy tale has a double focus: the relationship between Vincent, a mythic, noble man-beast, and Catherine, a savvy Assistant District Attorney in New York; and a secret Utopian community of social outcasts living in a subterranean sanctuary. Through an empathetic bond, Vincent senses Catherine's emotions, and becomes her guardian.
