‘감지’는 혼수상태의 환자와 소통할 수 있도록 하는 신경의학적 치료의 일종이다. 이 방법을 통해 고이치는 자신의 연인인 아츠미가 일년 전 왜 자살을 시도했는지 알아내려 한다. 그녀의 무의식 속으로 들어가기 두려워하던 고이치는 그녀의 무의식이 수장룡의 그림을 요구하자 크게 당황하기 시작한다.

사막 한 가운데 위치한 미래 생체연구소 '젠택 3'에는 야심찬 과학자 알렉스 헌터(Alex: 존 딜 분)의 지휘하에 몇몇의 과학자가 일하고 있다. 정부 비밀기관인 이곳에서는 죽은 것과 다름없는 쏘어(Thor: 댄 브롬 분)를 초인간 전투기계로 전환시키는 재생산 바이러스를 실험 중이었다. 그러나 실험 대상인 쏘어가 원인을 알 수 없는 상태로 죽어가자, 연구소의 책임자는 이 프로젝트가 잘못된 방향으로 나가고 있음을 깨닫게 된다. 그는 과거 이 프로젝트에 환멸을 느껴 떠났던 바이러스의 창조자 제임스 스톡슨(Stockton: 랜스 헨릭슨 분)을 다시 불러들인다. 한편, 끔찍한 통증과 바이러스의 체내 활동에 고통당하던 쏘어는 실험실을 탈출한다. 그는 인간 뇌의 콜레스테롤을 섭취해야만 생존할 수 있는 돌연변이로 급속히 변하고 어쩔수 없이 무자비한 살인마가 되는데...
