In the Kosovo village of Rubovce, twenty kilometers south of the capital, Prishtina, a wall built two decades ago in a small primary school still separates the young Albanian and Serbian students. They are ready to explore the new landscape, but uneasiness and fear of the unknown haunt them.

On the evening of 4 May 2023, a shooting spree occurred in the villages of Dubona near Mladenovac, and Malo Orašje near Smederevo, Serbia. Armed with an automatic assault rifle, the shooter opened fire from a car, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals, including an off-duty police officer, and leaving twelve others injured. The suspect, 20-year-old Uroš Blažić, fled the scene but was apprehended the next day near Kragujevac.

A 13-year-old student Kosta, now among the youngest mass murderers in the world, but with the largest number of victims, killed nine students and a school guard at Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school in Belgrade. He wounded five more.
