Set against the backdrop of massive economic growth in the 1990s, the story follows A Bao, a self-made millionaire and his journey from being a young opportunist with a troubled past to accumulating dazzling wealth in the city of Shanghai. It also follows his entanglement with four women who represent the pursuits of his life: adventure, honour, love and innocence.

Set in the Shanghai Bund in the 1940s, it revolves around a female detective who solve multiple cases.

Tao Wujie, a small-town graduate, begins his career as a teller at a Shanghai bank and gradually rises under the mentorship of veteran financiers Zhao Hui and Miao Che. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Tian Xiaohui enters the cutthroat world of trust capital, where survival demands ambition and sacrifice. As both are tested by temptation, competition, and shifting values, two generations of financial workers confront career choices that will reshape their futures—and their understanding of success in a city driven by money.

"Beautiful Beacon" tells the story of three women and their struggles during a war-ravaged period. The protagonists are Li Mei, a village girl, Zhao Lin, an intellectual, and Wang Yan, a nurse. The narrative begins with their lives in peaceful tranquility before the outbreak of war disrupts everything, plunging them into a brutal reality.

Celebrated dancers Hua Hongyan and Bai Dailin are drawn into a brutal world of debt, power, and corruption, where love and sacrifice become their only paths to survival amid the city’s glittering decadence.
