Kažkada amerikiečių animatorius Charlesas Addamsas „paskolino" pavardę paties sugalvotai netipiškai šeimynėlei. Septintajame dešimtmetyje animuoti Adamsai įkvėpė sukurti televizijos serialą, o šis „įpūtė dvasios" smagiai siaubo komedijai. Taigi gyveno kartą miela, bet labai keista Adamsų šeimynėlė: tėtis, mama, močiutė, duktė, sūnus, dviejų metrų ūgio liokajus ir... Daiktas. Baisaus jų namo saugykloje buvo pilna pinigų. Prieš ketvirtį amžiaus mylimas tėvo brolis Pūlinys išvyko, o šeima jo labai ilgisi. Apie Adamsų norą susitikti su giminaičiu ir saugomus pinigus sužinojo aferistė, o jos sūnus labai panašus į dėdę Pūlinį. Netrukus buvo suvaidintais giminaičio grįžimas. Tačiau apsimetėliui Pūliniui labai patiko būti Adamsų šeimos nariu.

Džiunė ir Semas puikiai sutaria - jiedu prisigalvoja visokiausių smagių dalykėlių ir mielai kartu leidžia laiką. Tuo metu Benis gali ramia širdimi lakstyti į pasimatymus. Tačiau netrukus Džiunės ir Semo santykiai iš draugystės perauga į meilę. Štai tada ir prasideda nesutarimai.
