Tomáš Etzler worked for seven years as a foreign correspondent in China. He came to know a country that was developing at an admirably fast pace, was swayed by its energy, and for a moment believed that modernity could bring about political change as well. Before long, it dawned on him that many people would continue to be severely punished, and the regime would still keep most of the nation in a state of indecision and ignorance. Without neglecting that face of China today, Etzler chose to tell a story of hope in his personal documentary. Using the example of an orphanage for disabled children, he shows that the answer to collectivist brutality and ruthlessness can be mutual assistance, tolerance and empathy.
Roman is a top level cyclist recovering from an injury through hard work and strict regimen. To improve his performance, he even sleeps in an oxygen tent installed in his bedroom. That is a bitter pill to swallow for his wife, Šarlota, whose long-time wish is to conceive a child. And so they both brim with determination, get lost in their obsessions, and improve their bodies to a point where they might even frighten themselves.
This film shows that today's youth can live in shabby dwellings, frequent noisy bars, and also go to school. We encounter the central character, Oskar, in two stages of development: in the first, he drinks himself into a stupor out of unhappy love, mourns the lover who broke up with him, and makes futile attempts to win her back. In the second part of the story, he pulls himself together, devotes himself to sports and working out at the gym, clarifies his priorities in life, and successfully arranges for computers to be put into operation. But soon, bored, lonely women begin to value things other than knowledge, and Oskar gradually becomes a sexual predator.
A meeting between the famous post-war safecracker Arnošt Šimerda and "his" inspector František Nový, who put him behind bars 25 years ago. In the meantime, Mr. Šimerda has become a responsible guard at the Karlovy Vary porcelain factory, where, paradoxically, he watches over employees to make sure they don't take valuable products home in their bags. He also started a family and became a grandfather. There is no animosity between the two aging men; on the contrary, it seems as if they are long-time friends reuniting after a long separation. After all, for Mr. Šimerda, his misfortune during the robbery of the Loket cash register was ultimately the first step toward a happy and contented life.
A mentally handicapped young man decides to leave the security of his family in order to search for the purpose of his existence; whether it is freedom, sexual experience, or death.
As the name suggests, the movie is about football. It is not about big league soccer, making huge money. It is about football, which lives just from village fans enthusiasm, from the enthusiasm of fathers and their sons and club officials. And yet on this battlefield, where the pub and silent household alternates, it is often about everything: friends, family, the meaning of life. It is about playing fair, but also about fighting below the belt. It is about winning, but also about falling into the abyss of the league wilderness.
In Kamenákov, the arrival of a Romany family becomes a problem for police chief Pepa and ignites an intense soccer rivalry.
Third movie of the famous Czech adventure trilogy: Osada Havranů Na veliké rece Volání rodu
