Het is 1968. In Parijs protesteren studenten tegen de Franse regering. In deze setting ontmoeten de drie hoofdpersonen van The Dreamers elkaar. Matthew is een Amerikaan die studeert in Parijs. Hij is een echte cinefiel: al zijn vrije tijd brengt hij door in de Cinemathèque. Hier zijn de tweeling Isabelle en Theo ook altijd te vinden. Tijdens een studentenbijeenkomst ontmoeten ze elkaar en raken bevriend.
Anthony is 80 jaar oud. Hij woont alleen in Londen en weigert de verpleegsters die zijn dochter hem probeert op te dringen. Toch wordt de hulp steeds dringender, want zijn dochter heeft besloten om naar Parijs te verhuizen, en Anthony zelf begint te dementeren.

De film speelt zich af in het hedendaagse New York. Twee getrouwde stellen ontmoeten elkaar kort nadat hun zoons ruzie hebben gehad. Michael en Penelope, van wiens zoon zijn tanden eruit zijn geslagen met een stok, nodigen Alan en Nancy uit om de zaken uit te praten. De poging tot het hebben van een beschaafde discussie over wiens kind verantwoordelijk is voor de ruzie, en hoe de ouders invloed hebben op dit gewelddadige gedrag verandert al snel in een grote ruzie.
Wie politieagent wordt in Thailand, krijgt automatisch een appartement aangeboden voor het hele gezin in de lokale ‘politieflats’. In dit blok groeien Jane en Ann samen op, gescheiden door verdiepingen, maar ook door hun status. Als dochter van een niet altijd integere sergeant groeit Jane op met alle gemakken, terwijl haar hartsvriendin Ann de verantwoordelijkheid draagt voor haar gezin nadat haar vader overleed. Wanneer de jonge politieagent Tong bij hen in de flat komt wonen, verandert de dynamiek tussen Jane en Ann. Ontluikende liefde, jaloezie, verwoeste toekomstdromen en hun verschil in sociale status brengen barsten in hun onafscheidelijke band.

Seven series were originally transmitted on BBC One from 1981 to 1991, with sixteen sporadic Christmas specials aired until 2003. In working-class Peckham in south-east London, ambitious market trader Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter and his younger half-brother Rodney, explore their highs and lows in life, in particular their attempts to get rich. Initially not an immediate hit and receiving little promotion early on, it later achieved consistently high ratings, and the 1996 episode "Time on Our Hands" (originally billed as the series finale) holds the record for the biggest UK audience for a sitcom episode, attracting 24.3 million viewers. The series bears a significant influence on British culture, contributing several words and phrases to the English language.

Pond Life is a British animated television series that was written and directed by Candy Guard and follows the misadventures of its neurotic and self-obsessed protagonist, Dolly Pond. Two series were broadcast on Channel 4 in 1996 and 2000. A series of 13x15minute episodes was screened from 3 to 18 December 1996, mainly at 5.45pm, but two episodes exploring more adult themes were reserved for a double screening at 11.25pm. This series was repeated between March and June 1998. A second series of 7x30minute episodes followed between 19–30 September 2000 to tie-in with Channel 4's Animation Week of 23–29 September 2000. The series began life in 1992 with a pilot episode entitled I Want a Boyfriend ... Or Do I?, co-commissioned by Channel 4 and S4C. Pond Life was Guard's second breakthrough and was commissioned by Channel 4 in 1996. Scheduling problems marred the series' reception; it was originally intended for broadcast at 9.45pm, but was shown four hours earlier, which required edits to remove adult language. It was shown at the same time as Australian soap Neighbours, and was aimed at the same core audience as the soap. Despite these problems, Pond Life won several awards and received a Writer's Guild nomination for Best Sitcom. Guard was pleased because it was up against several live-action comedy series, including Only Fools and Horses. A second series was broadcast in 2000.
