Een jonge komiek voelt zich overschaduwd door zijn beroemde vader. Als de nieuwe act van de jonge komiek flopt in Las Vegas, keert hij terug naar zijn geboorteplaats. Terwijl hij op zoek is naar een nieuwe act, stuit hij op een paar familiegeheimen die nou niet bijster grappig zijn. Plotseling realiseert hij zich dat dit precies de ingrediënten zijn voor de nieuwe act die hij zoekt.

Het speelt zich af aan de Golden Mile van Blackpool Jim, een ooit veelbelovende wetenschapper, die nu haar tonic verkoopt op de kermis met zijn ex-legercollega Dan. Jim wordt verliefd op Jane, het meisje op een nabijgelegen suikerspin kraam. De twee beginnen te daten, maar Jim vermeldt niet dat hij al getrouwd is.

Harry Hill gaat met zijn oma op roadtrip naar Blackpool als hij ontdekt dat zijn hamster nog maar één week te leven heeft.

Ripley Holden is a small-time entrepreneur desperate to make it big with his new state-of-the-art amusement arcade. The opening extravaganza is overshadowed by the find of a dead body on the premises. DI Carlisle is called in and quickly finds he has more on his mind than murder, when he falls in love with Ripley's long-suffering wife.

Filmed on location in 1997 at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the show was a six-part BBC documentary, which followed the day-to-day running of the park. It was mainly focused on the rides and the park managers, Jim Rowland and Keith Allen. The film crews also spoke to Geoffrey Thompson and Amanda Thompson, the director and producer of Stageworks Worldwide Productions (which directs, produces and choreographs the shows within the park.)
