Het land wordt overheerst door een slechte heks, en om haar te kunnen verslaan, moeten de kinderen leeuwenkoning Aslan vergezellen.
Edmund en Lucy moeten heel de zomer bij hun vervelende neefje Eustace verblijven, wat ze niet leuk vinden. Terwijl ze op een dag, samen met Eustace in een kamer zitten, komt een schilderij met het schip de 'Dawn Treader' erop tot leven en voor ze het weten bevinden ze zich op het magische schip. Daar ontmoeten ze hun vriend, koning Caspian.
