Tijdens de geallieerde invasie in Normandië komen twee broers om het leven. Een derde broer sneuvelt gelijktijdig in Nieuw-Guinea tijdens gevechten met de Japanners. Wanneer bekend wordt dat een vierde broer vermist is geraakt op het Franse platteland, wordt een missie gestart om hem veilig thuis te brengen.
1944, D-day. Twee Amerikaanse paratroepen worden boven Normandië neergeknald. Ze ontdekken dat de Nazi's experimenten hebben uitgevoerd waaruit bovennatuurlijke krachten zijn ontstaan. Deze worden tegen de geallieerden ingezet.
Het is 19 mei 1944 en men is bezig met de voorbereiding voor D-Day. De Engelsen trainen hard voor het begin van de bevrijding. Uit allerlei landen sluiten soldaten zich aan bij de Engelsen om op 6 juni 1944 op de stranden van Normandië te landen...
De film vertelt het verhaal van generaal George S. Patton, tijdens zijn opmars van Noord-Afrika naar Duitsland, gedurende de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De generaal, beroemd (en berucht) om zijn geniale leiderschap en woede-uitbarstingen, ligt constant overhoop met zijn meerderen.
Het verhaal van Louise, een Française, die zich in de Tweede Wereldoorlog nadat haar echtgenoot is vermoord aansloot bij het Franse verzet. Ze wordt vervolgens gerecruteerd door de spionagedienst SOE in Londen. Haar eerste missie houdt in dat ze samen met een door haar samengesteld team gespecialiseerde vrouwen een Engelse speciaal agent uit handen van de Duitsers moeten zien te houden.
Groot-Brittannië, 1944, tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Henry Faber, een meedogenloze Duitse spion in het bezit van vitale informatie over D-Day, wordt meedogenloos achtervolgd door verschillende MI5-agenten en zoekt zijn toevlucht op Storm Island, een onherbergzaam, dun bewoond eiland voor de kust van Noord-Schotland.

Film over de 90 dagen voorafgaand aan de landing in Normandië. Eisenhower wordt aangesteld als Supreme Commander van de geallieerde troepen en organiseert één van de meest legendarische oorlogsmanoeuvres in de geschiedenis.
Tweede Wereldoorlog. De vier jonge soldaten Griff, Zab, Vinci en Johnson dragen allen de 'Big Red One', het kenteken van de elite-eenheid van de stoottroepen binnen het Amerikaanse leger. Samen met hun sergeant worden ze naar Noord-Afrika, Sicilië en Normandië gestuurd.
Een marine-officier (Garner) is gestationeerd in Londen tijdens W.O.II. Zijn voornaamste taak is het recruteren van dames ter vermaak en ontspanning van zijn superieuren. Hij valt voor één vam de Engelse dames (Andrews) en er ontstaat een romance. Als gevolg van een meesterplan van een Amerikaanse admiraal moet hij dan het eerste ongewilde slachtoffer worden van de invasie in Normandië.
Overlord combineert archief films met nieuw materiaal om het verhaal van Thomas te vertellen. Thomas is een jonge Britse soldaat die wordt getraind om tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog naar Normandie te gaan. Tijdens deze periode heeft Thomas dromen en visies over zijn mogelijke toekomst en uiteindelijke dood.
