Children Underground follows the story of five street children, aged eight to sixteen who live in a subway station in Bucharest, Romania. The street kids are encountered daily by commuting adults, who pass them by in the station as they starve, swindle, and steal, all while searching desperately for a fresh can of paint to get high with.

Lavinia, a single mother trying to make a better life on her own terms for herself and her 13-year-old son, live in a poor Romanian village. She is impulsive, prone to misreading situations, and not sure how to love. But her son, on the threshold between childhood and adolescence, needs his mother more than ever, and over the course of four seasons their relationship is put to the test.

Andrei is the head of a political party, a member of parliament and, at the same time, a prosperous businessman. He stopped being young a good number of years ago, but his love affair with the beautiful dancer Ana gives him the feeling of a second youth. On their way back from a mountain getaway, Andrei's car causes an accident, killing one man and injuring another. The victims were all former colleagues of Ana's band, and the deceased was Ana's boyfriend. The investigation into the cause of the accident and especially the statements of the survivor incriminate Andrei.

Moldova in the early 90s: Dima, a tractor driver, wants to be enrolled in the military troops to take part in the local war on the Transnistrian border. Vasea, an Afghan war veteran, joins him. While on their way to the front, they find a carbonized body. The authorities ignore them and won't help them to identify the body. Dima and Vasea decide to bury the corpse according to the proper Christian rituals, but not before setting out, together with the body, on an absurd journey to discover his identity.

Here is the story of the entire life of Nicolae Ceaușescu, a peasant's son who managed to become the most powerful man in Romania. Including original archival footage and historical re-enactments, the story is told by those who lived it, those who knew him intimately, followed him, served him and carried out his orders: fellow prisoners, " his 'double', personal assistants, his personal security men, those who accompanied him on foreign trips, his translator, advisers, diplomats and family members.

Alex, in his mid-thirties, is a quite neurotic character. When his mother is hospitalized with a stroke, the caring son's life gets out of track. At the hospital he finds himself in a burlesque kind of human zoo full of unexpected characters and surprising events. Trying to manage the situation in between everybody's advice, he's coming hypochondriac. While his mother seems to feel perfectly fine Alex is making his own set of mistakes - throughout with best intentions.

On a rainy day, two guys arrive in a small village with film and a projector in their car. No one from the village comes to meet them. What happened? Who are they? The not knowing relays no small amount of interest at times through tension as in a horror movie, and at times through compassionate laughter.

Cristina, a girl from a well situated family, falls in love with a young working man, who manages to get into college.

In 5 seasons the jury was composed of Pepe, Connect-R, Maria Cârneci, Lora and Vasile Muraru. Famous performers from Romania and elsewhere occasionally take part to co-sing with the children. The show was launched in 2013 and the first winner was Omar Arnaout, a Romanian of mixed Lebanese-Romanian origin. In later seasons, children from other countries were qualified to participate to become "Next Star International". Also besides solo participants, children band were also allowed to take part in competition
