A construction comedy about the labor struggle of two groups of workers in a Prague factory. The old group is led by the grinder Karhan, while the young group is led by his son. The struggle between the two groups leads to the emergence of socialist competition and cooperation, in which the old share their experience with the young, and the young share their new ideas.

Jan Zika is the legendary hero of the communist resistance movement during World War II and leading functionary of the second underground Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.

His wife Eliska brings up their three children and desperately tries to get by on her husband's low salary every month. At the same time, she sadly watches the luxurious life of their neighbor and other people like him who have no qualms about improving their standard of living by cheating. One day, the infallible Safránek makes a mistake in the cash clearance and there are nine one-hundred Crown bills left in the safe. An unexpected company control carried out the next day passes without problems and the account is closed. The temptation is too strong. The insufficient control enables Safránek to gradually steal one million Crowns.

Fortunately, we don't have it, because who knows what would happen if we could control time. Her small salary and harsh life do not play into her favor. She struggles and fights, but perhaps the moment will come when she gives up everything. The visually captivating film Proměny follows four different characters whose lives intertwine only slowly and randomly. The individual fates and the plot culminate, and the film's bold concept inevitably leads to a final clash. What must happen for life to be different than before?

The apartment in the old house is occupied by a large family: a couple with three daughters, one of whom lives here with her husband and child. The young people want their own apartment, while the mother, who is indiscriminately directing the whole family, wants to exchange the current apartment for a larger one.
