Part 1 of 18 of a documentary produced for the Danish Film Institute that covers the entirety of Danish film history from 1896 to 1987.

The Juhl family is called upon when the finance minister wants to sell Kronborg to the Swedes. They want to organize a Christmas market so they can raise enough money to keep Kronborg Danish. Along the way, they get help from the castle elf Sixten, Holger Danske, and Hamlet. The Elverkongen wants it all for himself and makes sure that things disappear.
