El Nombre was an anthropomorphic Mexican gerbil, originally from a series of educational sketches on Numbertime, the BBC schools programme about mathematics; he was also the only individual to appear in all sixty-eight episodes, as its original host, Lolita Chakrabarti, was relieved of her position after the end of the fourth series in 1996. His voice was provided by Steve Steen, while the other characters' voices were provided by Sophie Aldred, Kate Robbins, and former Blue Peter host Janet Ellis - and his name actually means "The Name" in Spanish, not "The Number", which would be "El Número".

The show, which aimed at teaching primary science to children, is widely considered to be one of the best and most successful of its kind. The series began in 1994 and has continued to be broadcast each year up to and including 2003, producing over forty episodes .Whilst now off air, the show was often shown on BBC Two during schools programmes, and was often a favourite for teachers to show to a class in schools amongst other BBC Schools shows.

The O-Zone was a weekly music magazine show broadcast on BBC from 1989–2000. The First series was presented by Andy Crane on BBC One as a 10 min filler each weekday morning during the summer school holidays before switching to Sunday morning slot from September on wards. The series continued as a 5 to 15min filler shown during school holidays and Sunday mornings on CBBC throughout the year by CBBC presenters Andi Peters, Philippa Forrester, Toby Anstis and Zoë Ball by 1992. The show was given an overhaul and makeover from 13 January 1995, with Jayne Middlemiss and Jamie Theakston as the new dual presenters. The series was moved to Friday evening with Sunday repeat. The series was extended to 20mims from September 1996. There was also a spin-off series, The Pop Zone shown in 1998. In October 2000, the show was replaced by Top of the Pops Plus, which had already been on UK Play. That programme was axed in 2001.

I Love the '70s is a television mini-series produced by the BBC that examines the pop culture of the 1970s. It was broadcast in ten hour-long episodes, one dedicated to each year, with the first episode, I Love 1970, premiering on BBC Two on 22 July 2000, and the last, I Love 1979, premiering on 23 September 2000. On the original broadcasts, each episode was followed by the host introducing a film from that particular year. The series proved successful and thus was followed by two similar series, I Love the '80s and I Love the '90s, both of which aired during 2001. The "I Love..."-series spawned a US version, aired by VH-1. Part of the series was repeated in the spring of 2012 on BBC Two as part of a special season dedicated to the 1970s. The episode 'I Love 1975" is the only episode that suffered technical problems, and as concluded as part of the years that the BBC suffered problems.

Holidays in the Danger Zone: Places That Don't Exist is a five-part BBC Four series on breakaway states and unrecognised nations, devised, written and presented by Simon Reeve. The series producer was Will Daws. The producer was Iain Overton. The series took the team to little-known parts of the world including Somaliland, recognised as part of Somalia; Transnistria of Moldova; Taiwan; Nagorno-Karabakh of Azerbaijan; Ajaria, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia, all recognized by the United Kingdom as parts of Georgia. The programme and its team were awarded a One World Award in June 2005 for best popular feature.
