White magic is a documentary film about Svalbard and the people who live there. This is Europe's last wilderness and possibly the most gun-tight society in the world. What brings people here? What is it that fascinates? Why is it so difficult to leave here once you are bitten by the famous "polar bacillus"? The director Lisbeth Dreyer stayed on Svalbard for several years. In this film, she asks questions and gets many answers - in the face of one of the world's most northerly settlements and a magnificent, white, beautiful and dangerous nature.
Tamy Ben-Tor, an Israeli-born, Brooklyn-based artist, ridicules Hitler in song, wig and moustache. The performance is bonkers, the subject matter brutal; a catchy ditty about genocide and women's bottoms, set to gestures for certain lyrics (a bit like 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'). It is ridiculousL ridicule weaponised as a tool for critique.

Gavin Turk is a leading figure in British contemporary art. His 1991 degree show work Cave, a blue ceramic plaque commemorating his occupancy of a studio, and Pop, the waxwork figure of himself as Sid Vicious, are among the iconic artworks of the 1990s. His “self-portrait” signatures and his finely crafted sculptures of everyday objects (such as cardboard boxes cast in bronze) bring the commonplace into an art space and challenge the viewer to engage in new ways.
Join Ray Willet , whose affair with “the track” began in 1956 as a guide and Cathy Lewsley , who fell in love with “the track” when hut wardening there in 1997, as they journey along the “the Finest Walk in the World”. This is Nature at its awe- inspiring best – mountain vistas, gin clear waters with massive trout, those cheeky Keas and beautiful song birds the Tui and bellbird and those dreadful sandflies. A world where water is seen, felt and heard in its every form.
