Pelicula de aventuri fantasy In the Lost Lands adaptează trei povești scrise de George R.R. Martin, cunoscut în special datorită serialului de succes Game of Thrones. În prima poveste, o regină o angajează pe vrăjitoarea Gray Alys să-i aducă un dar dintr-un ținut pierdut care o va ajuta să se transforme într-un vârcolac, însă va descoperi că are de plătit un preț prea mare pentru asta. În a doua poveste, războinica Sharra trebuie să se lupte cu un dragon, care este paznicul celor 7 lumi, pentru a ajunge la iubitul ei, Kaydar, însă pe traseu îl întâlnește pe lordul Laren Dorr, care o seduce, făcând-o să rămână cu el și să uite de scopul ei inițial. Iar în final, o tânără barbară e fermecată de o vrăjitoare într-o navă spațială, care îi va oferi dragoste și frumusețe, însă se va dovedi a fi doar o plasă de minciuni și înșelătorii.

Filmul prezintă povestea lui Balthazar Blake, un maestru vrăjitor și ucenic al faimosului Merlin, care vrea să salveze Manhattan-ul contemporan de planurile malefice ale inamicului său, Maxim Horvath, personaj interpretat de Alfred Molina. Deoarece nu îi poate face față lui Horvath singur, Blake îl recrutează pe timidul descendent al lui Merlin, Dave Stuller, interpretat de Jay Baruchel.
