În această parodie a filmelor horror din anii '90, câțiva adolescenți ghinioniști, care ascund un secret, sunt urmăriți de un criminal în serie complet incapabil.

Patru studenți sunt invitați să petreacă o noapte în Hell House, un conac bântuit. Profesorul Oldman i-a convins că este pentru un proiect, însă noaptea nu trece fără probleme. Maestrul Kane a murit demult, însă are de gând să se distreze puțin, mai ales cu Alex. Cei patru trebuie să lucreze împreună ca să găsească un mod de a prinde periculoasa fantomă.

„Comedie de groază 5” lărgește orizonturile parodiei specifice acestei francize luând în vizor nu numai filmele de groază, ci și altele ca „Lebăda neagră” și „Începutul”.

Cei trei, total nepregătiți, trebuie să salveze lumea de invazia extraterestră. Cindy se mută lângă Tom pentru a îngriji o bătrână, dar descoperă că apartamentul este bântuit de un băiețel ucis. În același timp, extratereștrii „Tr-iPods” atacă planeta, iar Cindy trebuie să găsească secretul pentru a-i opri.

După ce a avut parte de o perioadă groaznică - întotdeauna așa cum o privești - în cele două tranșe anterioare, Cindy Campbell este gata să continue. Înzestrate fiecare cu o singură expresie facială, ele își dispută atenția celui care utilizează telefonul. Doar Gene, un emoji exuberant, care s-a născut fără filtru, are mai multe expresii.
