The Matumbilas is an animated comedy series about a Tanzanian family living in the middle class United States. The series deals with culture clashes between the immigrated parents, Hashim and Zainat Matumbila and their first-generation American children, Amina, Rajab and Zulfiqar Matumbila.

Inspired by African mythology, the series follows Tonko, a city kid who is sent to stay with his aunt for the summer -- but when he discovers an ancient family mask that allows him to transform into his ancestors and harness their mystical superpowers, Tonko soon discovers that with great powers comes… great family baggage!
