Mountain of Fire: The Search for the True Mount Sinai

Mountain of Fire: The Search for the True Mount Sinai 2002

1

A documentary of the true story of two American adventurers who follow mysterious clues to find the true Mt. Sinai. The discoveries made by Bob Cornuke and Larry Williams will shock the world and rewrite history. Centuries of tradition place this holy mountain in the Sinai peninsula of Egypt, but compelling evidence will show that this hallowed ground, where Moses was told to take the shoes of his feet before the burning bush, may actually be in the barren deserts of northwestern Saudi Arabia. Epic myth becomes burning truth on the Mountain of Fire.

Loon Dreaming

Loon Dreaming 2002

1

Loon Dreaming opens with loons gracefully riding the waves. Then suddenly we see the world through the eyes of one of these spectacular birds. We dive down deep into the waters in pursuit of fish, launch skyward from the water and fly high over the busy highways and sprawling subdivisions that scar the natural world--before gently splashing down on a secluded lake. The artistry of Iriz Pääbo and her creative use of digital technology are a magical mix! A forest transforms into an explosion of colour, the passion of loons becomes palpable, and their hunting call resonates. A film without words.

Memosium

Memosium 2002

Memosium is composed like a concerto in three movements. Camera, body and space have their own tempo but all are played simultaneously. From its shots and characters, the story seems amnesic. Events reiterate themselves infinitely. We are in a time of repetition. Thus, all seems to start again, stressed by the circular arrangement of space. Prisoner of its own memory. Moreover, the acceleration and geometrical multiplication of movement, the complexity of the character’s activities, their mathematical cutting and the infinite re-arrangement of the body give the spectator a new awareness of time, without set limits. Only flight (death?) can allow escape from this trap of time.

In the summer of 2001, under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, a totem pole in the Peabody Museum at Harvard University was returned to its original owners' ancestors, a Tlingit community in Southeast Alaska. The journey of the pole began a hundred years ago when it was removed by the Harriman Expedition from the deserted village of Gash at Cape Fox. The totem pole makes its way from Cambridge, Massachusetts to Ketchikan, Alaska, where the Cape Fox community holds a ceremony to welcome home artifacts taken by the Expedition.

The Red Flag Flies

The Red Flag Flies 2002

1

A video essay offering new perspectives on a contemporary China between communist slogans and market-driven society. Is the utopia of a communist society in China still alive or just kept alive artificially? In Zhou Hongxiang's video essay possible answers are interconnected, while presenting today's China as a nation torn between communist rhetoric and capitalist economy. Simultaneously, The Red Flag Flies critically reflects on the slogans of Maoism as well as on all kind of -isms in the world - albeit their economical, political or ideological origins. The Red Flag Flies tries to deconstruct and reconstruct the phenomenon of cinema by questioning current aesthetic experiences and cognitive perception, and tries to explore a new discourse on the power of images.

The Outrageous Keith Deltano Live 2002

1

Keith Deltano faces head-on the topic of teen abstinence, but not in the usual way. Keith is a Christian comedian with a style all his own. With pure energy, Keith combines side-splitting humor, slapstick, and audience participation with Scriptural truths and scientific evidence to confront youth with the harsh risks of premarital sex, and he presents the rich rewards of God’s plan: abstinence until marriage and monogamy afterwards. He helps young people know what to say and do to handle the pressures of their peers and today’s society.

RE:THE_OPERATION

RE:THE_OPERATION 2002

1

Based on a set of drawings that depict George W. Bush's administration as wounded soldiers in the war against terrorism, RE:THE_OPERATION explores the sexual and philosophical dynamics of war through the lives of the members as they physically engage each other and the "enemy." Letters, notes, and digital snapshots "produced" by the members on their tour of duty become the basis of video portraits that articulate the neuroses and obsessions compelling them toward an infinite war. Part M*A*S*H*, part Three's Company, part philosophical meditation (with a dash of character assassination thrown in) RE:THE_OPERATION exists as a single channel video and a set of desktop replacement icons for MAC and PC.
