Rebelský králik Peter žije svoj veselý bezstarostný život spolu s ostatnými zvieratami na farme. Nový majiteľ statku sa však o svoj životný priestor deliť nemieni - a už vôbec nie so zvieratami. Začína sa tak bizarná vojna o teritórium medzi ním a obyvateľmi záhrady.

Obľúbený nespratník Peter sa tentokrát rozhodne utiecť z farmy, pretože si myslí, že svojím správaním všetkým spôsobuje iba problémy. Podcenila len svoju sesternicu Abigail, ktorá na dvor prišla prosiť o prácu služobnej potom, čo jej rodina zbankrotovala. Sarah ju z ľútosti prijala. Netuší však, že by ctižiadostivá Abigail mohla ohroziť jej rolu kráľovninej favoritky. Zatiaľ čo Abigail vďaka svojej obľube u panovníčky rýchlo stúpa spoločenským rebríčkom, od Sarah sa začína priazeň odvracať.

V mestečku zúri zeleninová horúčka, blíži sa totiž každoročná Obria zeleninová súťaž. Každý sa chce nielen zúčastniť, ale predovšetkým vyhrať. Keď mestské záhradky, skrývajúce zeleninové poklady, začne cez noc bezohľadne plieniť záhadná zeleninová príšera, požiada usporiadateľka súťaže Lady Tottingtonová Wallacea s Gromitom o záchranu zeleninového pokladu. Okrem nich sa do boja so škodcom púšťa aj snobský Victor Quartermaine, ktorý si chce likvidáciou príšery zaistiť slávu a lásku Lady Tottingtonovej. Lenže on a naši dvaja kamaráti čoskoro spoznajú, že ich súper rozhodne nie je žiadny "šalát".
