Razočarani mladenič Will se zaradi tragične smrti matere, ki ji je zmanjkalo časa, odloči upreti nepravičnemu sistemu. Z iznajdljivo Sylvio izvedeta rop časovne banke in plen razdelita med običajne ljudi. To zmoti sistem zloveščih trgovcev s časom, zato za upornikoma pošljejo neizprosnega agenta Leona, ki na lovu ne izbira sredstev.

Will Smith nastopa kot detektiv Del Spooner v srhljivki z vrhunsko tehnologijo, ki jo je navdahnila serija novel vizionarskega pisatelja Isaaca Asimova.
