Potem ko je Po izbran za duhovnega vodjo Doline miru, mora poiskati in izuriti novega zmajevega bojevnika. Medtem pa zlobna čarovnica Kameleon načrtuje, da bo s pomočjo Pojeve palice modrosti v kraljestvo duhov iz preteklosti ponovno priklicala vse glavne zlikovce, ki jih je Po premagal.
Panda Po je strastni privrženec borilnih veščin, še posebej kung fuja, ki sanja o tem, da bo nekoč postal pravi mojster v tej veščini. Toda žal je nerodni Po obsojen na delo v družinski restavraciji in vse kaže, da bo pri tem tudi ostalo. Vse se spremeni, ko je Po nepričakovano izbran, da uresniči prerokbo, po kateri njegovi živalski vrsti grozi uničenje. Da bi lahko rešil vse pande na svetu, se mora Po pridružiti legendarnim petim mojstrom kung fuja in pod vodstvom mojstra Shifuja osvojiti borilno veščino. Nerodni Po pri treningu ne blesti preveč, toda ko jih nepričakovano preseneti prihod morilskega snežnega leoparda Tai Lunga, je Po edini, ki jih lahko reši pred smrtno nevarnostjo.
