För henne innebär olyckan att hon räddas från att skjutas av männen i limousinen. Hon drabbas av minnesförlust och förvirrad snubblar hon nerför vägen och tar skydd i en lägenhet. Till samma lägenhet anländer Betty, en ung kvinna som kommit för att uppfylla sina skådespelardrömmar i den mest glamorösa av städer. Hon möts av Rita, som den förvirrade kvinnan kallar sig och tillsammans söker de, den ena med en äventyrlig nyfikenhet och den andra med en instinktiv rädsla, efter sanningen om Ritas identitet. Samtidigt får den unge och begåvade regissören Adam Kesher problem efter flera märkliga och hotfulla möten med den ena udda karaktären efter den andra. Alla vill de att han ger en roll åt den unga och oerfarna skådespelerskan Camilla Rhodes.
