A series of four films presented as educational clips about work safety in a chemical factory presents a multi-layered reflection on the ambiguity of life and death, waking and dreaming, seen through oppressive black and white images and episodic narrative. The enigmatic story of a young couple employed in a socialist factory is characterized by the constant repetition and variation of motifs that ironically violate safety rules. „Inhale as much air as possible, to have what to offer.“

Based on a true story that happened to Polish movie director Kristofer Kieslowski during the filming of Station 1981 in which some of his footage was nearly used as evidence in a criminal case. Five young men go to a Station to film a documentary about People Waiting. Deciding to finish everything in one day, they stay till late in the night. As time passes by each of the characters is influenced, in a different way, by the events in the station and the accumulated fatigue.

The year is 1972, two years before the regular newsreel produced by the Sahia Studio – known as The Week in Pictures – was discontinued. Sahia started producing the newsreel at the beginning of the 1950s, as an extension of the Sound Newsreel produced by the National Cinematographic Office. Production ceased in March 1974, after newsreel had been made obsolete by television news.
