Tian Xian Pei, sometimes translated as Fairy Couple, is a Chinese legend, which existed as oral traditions before any written compilation. It has since become a major subject of several Chinese opera, films and TV series.

Da Tang Fu Rong Yuan is a Chinese television series based on a novel by Nangong Bo that tells of the romance between Consort Yang Yuhuan and Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty. The series was directed by Zhou Xiaowen and starred Fan Bingbing and Winston Chao as the couple. It was first broadcast on CCTV-8 in mainland China in 2007.

Huang Yanpei is a Chinese historical television series based on the life of Huang Yanpei, a prominent educator, industrialist, and politician, who was also one of the founders of the China Democratic League. Directed by Hong Baosheng and Zhao Lei, the series starred Zhang Tielin as the titular character. The series was first broadcast on CCTV-8 in China on 27 May 2010.
