The story, which might have been a real experience or might have been a dream, is repeated in various forms. The images appear as reminiscences of the past, as well as attempts to reconstruct a narrative. These attempts make room for one final long shot: A view of Beirut today, at the time of the dusk prayer. It is as if this last image – inducing contemplation, had become my ultimate way of relating the story.

Kaalicharan, an honest collector, is pitted against a group of corrupt bigwigs who try to bribe him. His resistance and his fight against corruption bring him much grief and challenges.

A vertical feature bisects the frame in each of the shots in this video. At moments it seems to be the edge of a wooden window frame; sometimes it looks more like an abstract painterly stripe; occasionally it splits, divides and almost disappears.
