To say life in Vilnius, Lithuania, during Soviet occupation was tense would be an understatement. People were followed and photographed; restaurant dinner plates were bugged to catch potentially illicit conversations; car accidents were staged to waylay people while surveillance equipment was installed in their apartments; and many were detained, interrogated, imprisoned, or worse. Through expertly assembled KGB archival footage, earnest present-day interviews, and cleverly crafted returns-to-the-scene-of-the-crime, directors Maxì Dejoie and Virginija Vareikyté present an acutely compelling contemplation of a “non war” from both sides.

Nadia, Teresė and Ramutė are the three heroines of this documentary. Although they are very different, they are united by their unusual work - for decades they have been making a living by posing for artists. For Janina Lapinskaite, it is not the exotic profession that is important, but the stories that have marked these women's bodies over time. The heroines of the film talk openly about their choice of work, their colourful, albeit difficult past, and their equally difficult present - they bare not only their bodies, but also their souls to the camera.

Domas is a kleptomaniac. He works in a sport club through an integration program which helps people with mental disorders to return to society. One day he does not manage to resist and steals a bag from a young doctor Simona, who is living through an existential crisis. She asks his help to find her things. Domas feels ashamed, but he cannot confess. He offers her a ride home. Together they go on a journey through the night in Vilnius, their painful experiences reveal as well as a fragile, but at the same time impossible connection between them sets up.
