This documentary is about the last days of soldiers stationing in Brzeg. Soviet barracks were in the town from 1945. In this film produced in 1990 we could see citizens of Brzeg. They want the Soviet soldiers to leave the town. Moreover, the citizens want to be paid damages for their loss.
The film was created as a result of two worlds meeting. The first world consisted of young people from Ukrainian and Polish cities who came to Polesie in search of ancient songs; they wanted to record and learn them. The second world consisted of rural artists and singers from the Polesie villages of Perebrody and Stari Koni, situated on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.

In 2001, during the first edition of the New Horizons Festival (held in the town of Sanok), we showed five Jonas Mekas films. A few months later, while in New York, I went unannounced to the Anthology Film Archives and met Mekas there. I was 29 years old and carrying a small video camera, which was on all the time, also during our conversation in a nearby café where Mekas liked to go. Twenty years later, I came across that recording on a mini DV cassette and edited it a little, using some fragments from Mekas’ movies.
