"Growing Up" tells the story of three young people - an intellectual, a worker and a farmer, who were united by a common passion for sport. In the seven-episode series, Gronowski outlines their history from 1972 to 1980. During this time, the characters begin their adult life, start families, experience the taste of their first successes and failures. Their energy, desire to transform the world, sense of justice, moral sensitivity, but also impatience and inexperience collide with the indifference, cynicism and opportunism of the elderly. Vitality and idealism meet a barrier of ossified systems and informal, unclear connections. The young heroes feel that they are needed by each other. They support each other in difficult times, their friendship matures with them.

One of them was an inhabitant of Lviv who spent several years in a Soviet labor camp. After the war, he moved to a former German guesthouse. The action of the film takes place today. The son of the former owners, who was 12 years old at the outbreak of the war, comes to the town where the guesthouse was located. There is an unusual meeting of two aging men who, against their will, have been torn from their places of grew up and spend their entire lives away from their homeland.
