"Phony Sights" considers social and political issues and even science when searching for an answer to the questions: "Where are we?" and "Where are we going?"
A documentary about the life choices of seven men and one woman who left their home countries and moved to Yugoslavia at the time of the non-aligned movement. In Slovenia, they started new lives, had families and made careers. Coming from different cultures, there are two traits they share: determination and persistence. In their personal accounts, they speak of their experience and share their memories of the time since their arrival.

One night, a group of teenagers breaks into a city swimming pool. Their youthful spirit soon turns into wild, violent rampage. When the maelstrom of proving themselves and picking on others results in an accident, the situation turns upside down.
The film deals with the fate of children who, together with their parents, were imprisoned in the Teharje camp near Celje. In June 1945, they were separated from their parents and taken to the Petricek children's camp, and their parents killed and buried in unknown places without trial. Inside the camp, the guards try to rip out the old children's identity with various overhauling measures and to enforce them a new identity. Children lost their parents and childhood, and got wounded so deeply, they have not healed even until today.

Father is dying at home. The pastor orders Janez and Marinka to call his son Štefan before he dies. Since father and son are at odds, Janez and Marinka are afraid that Štefan will not want to come. Therefore, at the approaching harvest, they lure him with the lie that his father is already dead. Despite the poor medical prognosis, the father is still alive when his son arrives.
