A film story about the composer and musician Bo Hansson, once half of Hansson & Carlsson. Bo Hansson is now better known abroad than in Sweden. He has composed numerous books including Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings'.

This film follows the story of young orphaned woman of the slums. Although she is given a chance to improve her life, she stumbles into a series of misfortunes, enslaving herself in the company of characters in the underworld. Teetering on the brink of self-destruction, a ray of hope offers her redemption.

Viola describes The Wheel of Becoming as concerning "the notion of the parallel nature of reality, that is, simultaneous events separated in space." A mandala-like form, divided into four quadrants, unifies four events by four individuals in four separate spaces. These alternately converge and separate through timed camera movements, coincident actions and common elements of the landscape.

A flute playing cat leads a band composed of animals. The animated images accompany a recording of 'Eye Level'. Cats, mice, tigers, monkeys, camels, penguins, birds, as well as, a bear, a cheetah, an elephant, and a seagull appear with stop-clock precision to play instruments featured in the recording at appropriate points in the sound track. The flute-playing cat vies with a lion bandmaster in leading the band.

The film then changes to black and white and the argument continues about houses and planning, with shots of the destruction of a house, and shots from other films of the houses it used to be. “Tourists, postcards, different views of the same icon. The Bridge is a piece of geometry so I figured the film had to be geometric, too. The matte box allowed me to create postcards within postcards within postcards. It was all done in-camera…very demanding, it took all winter! The matting had to be carefully calculated and each image rewound by hand, then rephotographed, in the right position and at the right exposure. I surrounded the Bridge with a mass of water…vertically and horizontally. The water is by turns soft and then metallic as it reflects in the low winter sun. The movement, the steel and the water create an interplay as harbour sounds, wind chimes, boats…tinkle.” (Paul Winkler)

This is a film about change and contemporary life in Shungnak, a village on the Kobuk River in northwestern Alaska, 75 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The film reveals that life along the Kobuk River is still inextricably linked to the harsh and starkly beautiful land, where the December sun rises at 11 a.m. and sets three hours later. An old man shares his feelings about the changes he has seen: "Long ago, forest fires put themselves out. Today, even when men fight them, they burn. I think our earth is getting old, and when things get old and dry they burn. Our earth is the same way," he adds. "It's ready to burn. I think it's coming close to the time when we will have a new one."
