An ex-felon returns home from prison and must confront the demons of his past.

Pit is in his early 20s and meets the attractive singer Caro. He wants to impress her but lacks the resources. He comes up with the idea to saw off the roof of his car and turn it into a snappy convertible.

Nora is fourteen and lives with her parents in a quiet Berlin suburb. She is a romantic introvert who spends her day retreated into her own enchanted dreamworld. The Swedish 19th century engineer Salomon August Andrée sets out to become the first man on the north pole. His idea is to launch a polar expedition using a hydrogen balloon, together with two friends. The balloon, "The Eagle", takes off from Svalbard in 1897, but the three men are never heard from again.
