Avatar là câu chuyện về người anh hùng “bất đắc dĩ” Jake Sully – một cựu sĩ quan thủy quân lục chiến bị liệt nửa thân. EVE thuộc hạm đội người máy được Phi trưởng của tàu Axiom cử xuống trái đất để làm nhiệm vụ kiểm tra bí mật. Theo đuổi EVE, WALL-E không thể ngờ rằng cậu sẽ vượt qua dải ngân hà và bước vào một chuyến phiêu lưu kỳ thú vượt xa sự tưởng tượng của chính mình.

Bối cảnh của phim Hành Tinh Khỉ 1 được lấy vào tương lai rất xa, bốn phi hành gia tỉnh dậy sau giấc ngủ đông (bằng kỹ thuật điện tử) trong chuyến hành trình với vận tốc gần bằng vận tốc ánh sáng của mình và phát hiện họ đã đặt chân đến một hành tinh lạ và đã là năm 3978. Tại hành tinh này họ phát hiện ra các loài linh trưởng, có trí tuệ cao, biết nói là những kẻ thống trị, còn loài người, không có khả năng giao tiếp bằng tiếng nói, lại bị coi là "động vật" có thể bị săn bắn, bắt làm nô lệ, hay thậm chí là để nghiên cứu...

Phim lấy bối cảnh nhiều năm sau triều đại của Proximus Ceasar trong Đại Chiến Hành Tinh Khỉ (2017). Khỉ trở thành giống loài thống trị thế giới, còn con người phải khép mình trong bóng tối.
