Đây là phần phim đầu tiên (theo thứ tự thời gian, lần thứ ba) trong loạt phim Insidious. Phim xoay quanh câu chuyện về người đàn ông Rang Song một vị pháp sư tài năng, anh đã đi đến tại vùng nông thôn Isan Thái Lan. Tại đây, Rang Song gặp gỡ được cô cháu gái của Shaman tên là Ming, không những vậy cô gái đó còn là một người thừa kế nghề thầy cúng của cha mình. Lấy bối cảnh tại thị trấn Blithe Hollow (một địa danh hư cấu), ParaNorman kể về cậu bé 11 tuổi Norman Babcock.
