Year 1925 - 72

Wealthy contractor Michael Arnold hires civil engineer Jerry Foster to work on a dam under construction in the West. Michael hopes to enter high society and encourages his daughter, Alice, to marry Lafayette Van Renselaer, a fashionable young aristocratic. Alice is attracted to Jerry but mistakes his friendship with Kathleen O'Toole for love. Lafayette abruptly ends his affair with Kathleen when he has an opportunity to wed Alice, and accuses Jerry of trifling with Kathleen's affections.

A commercial promoting Sana margarine. A painter's hand adds two skinny boys to a painting. The boys have a sausage and a wandering dog steals it from them. In a while, another two younger, but also skinny boys, playing at American Indians, join the chase after the dog, running away with the sausage. The older boys, however, finally pursue the younger boys instead of the dog, who eats the sausage in the meantime. The younger boys run into a factory complex in the Prague neighbourhood of Hlubočepy. A well-nurtured cook welcomes them and feeds the hungry and skinny boys almost to the verge of bursting. When the older pursuers arrive, they are surprised how fast the two younger boys gained weight. The concluding text of the commercial claims: "Every proper boy must feed on margarine."

The court lady, Woo-yeon (Kim Woo-yeon), who was beautiful in appearance and excelled in poetry, was serving Anpyeong Dae-gun (Yoo-jun). After she saw the young Jin-sa Kim (Ahn Jong-hwa) one day, she fell in love with him and she did the same with Jin-sa Kim.

In a village near Florence (referred to as “Scicci” in the Dutch intertitles), the female inhabitants sit in front of their houses, manufacturing straw hats. This short film depicts the entire process of a hat being made and ends with a model wearing it to demonstrate.
