每一个小城镇，都有着自己的鬼故事--这种地方风格浓厚的民间传说往往都是在营火晚会或那些留在别人家过夜的小孩之间传播的，故事主题一般都不会离开“某个被残忍杀害的人却阴魂不散”。这些孩子长大以后，还会与自己的孩子们共同分享这个鬼故事，以一种独特的形式延续着只属于这个城镇的小秘密，以及其背后所潜在的幽灵。不过，在某些城镇中，那些恐怖的传说并不是凭空想象出来的，也不是用来愉悦大人吓唬小孩的，有些时候，它们都是真实发生过的。
