The very first Serbian animated film shows a pincer trying to find its way through labyrinth.

This rare fashion film is an exquisite showcase of Sonia Delaunay’s ‘Simultaneous’ dresses and fabrics, quite possibly made at the artist’s Parisian studio and home at 19 Boulevard Malesherbes. Dating around 1926-7 and filmed using the tricolor additive Keller-Dorian process (later also known as ‘Kodacolor cine film’), the film presents Delaunay’s geometric designs in rich colours. Having gradually shifted focus from painting to textile and clothing design in the early 1920s, and advocating the production of unique, one-off pieces, Delaunay treated her design work – and quite clearly also this film production – as an extension of her artistic practice. The film was one vehicle with which to make her case that there should be no hierarchy between fine and decorative arts (among other things, Delaunay used the film in her lectures about the influence of painting on clothing design).

George Studdy’s cartoon pup makes the transition to the cinema screen and sets the tone for many a British tourist with his drunken high jinks in Paris.

“Roald Amundsen – Lincoln Ellsworths flyveekspedisjon 1925″ is a new DVD release of film footage from the nearly disastrous 1925 aeroplane expedition led by Norwegian polar hero Roald Amundsen. Financed by american businessman Lincoln Ellsworth, who also was a member of the expedition, the aeroplanes were registered as N24 and N25 and subsequently equipped for polar flights. They took off from King´s Bay in Svalbard on May 21st in an attempt to carry out the first transpolar flight of the North Pole, in order to establish once and for all whether there was in fact land in the area.

New Yorker John Holmes, who has made a fortune on Wall Street, receives an urgent message to go West because a California gold mine in which he has invested may be lost due to the larceny of his foreman. Once in California, he meets Dolores Verdiego, who became an innocent victim of the foreman and his gang when she was coerced into making a false ownership claim on the mine from an old charter.

William Ignatius Newton, a charmingly worthless young man, inherits a car, a dime, and a valet from his millionaire father, then sets out to learn about life.
