My Friend Su is an insightful examination of one man’s feelings and struggles with being a ‘man’ on the outside but feeling distinctly feminine otherwise. His acceptance of what he is from within, a real ‘woman’, and his dreams to be with a man who can love him as a woman become the core issues that unravel in the film.
An autobiographical documentary film that goes beyond the barriers of the genre and is something between videoart, experimental film and home video and seeks to throw light on the consequences of the Armenian Genocide of 1915, which forced the director´s family to emigrate to France. In the spirit of Bertolt Brecht´s theory of art and distanciation, Khazarian frees himself from reality, combining in the film amateur films about his own family and contemporary footage from the battlefield in Nagorno-Karabakh. His film is not a recapitulation of historical fact, but rather a visual meditation on the fetishist aesthetics of war, diverse sexual orientations and the consequences of emigration. The film deals with topics such as war, destruction and sexuality, which, in the director´s view are indissolubly linked.
"This work was inspired by images of people on the internet. Around 2000, online chatrooms started to become popular. However, most people would just want to show their bodies or look at women’s breasts and genitals. Phoebe Man created a walking vagina to question whether women are just pieces of meat. In the video, Rati lives like an ordinary woman, she would go to the library to read, and menstruate each month. With her look, even if she were doing something ordinary, it would look absurd. The work attempts to challenge gender stereotypes, and looks at women’s social and cultural images in a deconstructive manner, to open up an imaginative space." - timesartscenter.org

Floating Memory contains these photographs, along with other image sequences pertaining to Chinese propaganda, the past, the present, and other symbolic scenes. Arranged using bifurcations and superimpositions, the video imitates the way memory works.

On/Off, On/Off, On/Off – this is the urban rhythm of PUSH by the Spanish film-maker Gorka Aguado. Through the use of switches, buttons, and handles from ordinary objects like microwaves, stereos, cars, doors, and toilets, Gorka has succeeded in choreographing a mechanical dance of daily routines. The different forms, textures, and colors are superimposed to reveal the richness and variety of these objects that almost unconsciously make up our daily lives.
