Peter is fed up with his father’s unfulfilled promises to visit his friend Zoran, who moved far away with his parents some months ago. He forces his father to sear he will fulfill his promise. Peter immediately tells his friend the good news, and because Zoran doesn’t believe they will really come, Peter swears he will come if he has to do it alone. The next day, Peter’s father postpones the visit once again and rushes to work. But Peter doesn’t want to break his promise and sets off to visit his friend alone. Peter’s younger sister Petra attempts to reveal what is right and what isn’t in the events that follow - and when she finds the solution - it’s a surprise for everyone.

Late at night Lang looks at the photographs in Los Angeles and revives in his spirit the imaginary meeting with his friend Gatnik.

A series of slightly unusual circumstances, holidays with boy scouts, a new friend - private detective Emil, his mother’s environmental contributions in TV shows and a longing for adventure lead Denis to follow the perpetrators, who unload the wastes in a national park. Denis’s adventures end happily for him and for all his family members, while the criminals are punished - as they should be.
When Peter comes back from the war, he finds his father changed and alone. Their former maid, Leni, has also left and soon Peter's grandfather also dies. His father begins writing his memoirs of his Partisan years. Peter blames his father for his mother's death, but the final blow comes when he catches his father together with his (Peter's) former girlfriend. He moves in with his brother and accuses Leni of having had an affair with his father. Peter decides to kill his father but cannot carry out the plan. His father tells him in a fit of rage that he isn't his son at all. Feeling desperate and down, he goes to Leni's place for comfort, and finds her dead on the floor. The police arrest Peter for the murder of Leni. Will Peter have to serve a jail sentence on his road to maturity and will political connections have a bearing on the final verdict of the trial? Peter doesn't even know whom he can trust anymore.
The film is based on a novel by Ivan Tavcar and was adapted for the screen by Andrej Hieng. It is set at the end of the 17th century in the area that is now Slovenia at a time of religious intolerance with Amandus, a Catholic priest, determined to persecute local Protestants.
DAWN is the film of 2 stories, the story of life and death In one apartment a young couple is waiting for a baby to be born. Pregnant Leila is asleep in the bathroom. Her boyfriend tries to assemble a baby bed with her father who comes from Serbia. While trying to read the manual and assemble the bed they talk, they fight and slowly get to know one another. In another apartment Robert comes from Paris to visit his sister and dying father. Because of old resentments they haven't seen each other for some time. Trough music the son reconnect with his dying father. In a 3 hour period, while the dawn is coming, the characters overcome their conflicts and resolve old issues. One life end so another one can begin.
