On May 1, 2004, about half a dozen children were born in Lithuania. Their arrival in this world coincided with the accession of Lithuania to the European Union. At the initiative of director Arūnas Matelis, the creative group that recorded the birth of many babies returned to some of the heroes every few times. After 20 years, the director Eimantas Belickas together with the author of the script Ramune Rakauskaite chose the brightest, outstanding young people who already have something to say about their first steps upon reaching adulthood. This is a picture of the first EU generation in Lithuania.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, filmmaker Vytautas Oškinis shared a home with his grandfather, former head of state Vytautas Landsbergis. Their quiet domestic life is punctuated by political commentary and the sounds of piano and flute. As Landsbergis revisits his most important documents and works before his fragile memory fades, Oškinis’s camera captures a story about the bond forming between generations, and about a spirited, creative mind residing in a body increasingly resistant to it. Dark Matter 2024

The first blueprints for rockets could be found in a treatise, Artis Magnae Artilleriae (1648) by inventor K. Simonavičius. And how many Lithuanian astronauts were there? Two. And one of them was an architect. Ozė (V. Ozarinskas, 1961-2014) was an exceptional figure in the Lithuanian cultural scene. His works stand out in their scale, depth, and originality. Especially inconvenient to the viewer is Ozė’s “black” creative period. But is black color only the symbol of despair? Astrophysicists estimate that the better part of the Universe is composed of invisible dark matter. Seems like Ozė knew that very well.
