Los Angeles in 1935. Fritz Lang receives in his hotel apartment the young film amateur Willy, who wants to prepare an interview with him. At a certain moment Lang starts relating how, as an army officer in the First World War, he spent some time in the house of the lawyer Karol Gatnik in a small town in the northeast of Slovenia. Lang makes friends with Gatnik and gets aquainted with all members of his family. When Lang finds out that Gatnik is a passionate film amateur and that he also possesses his own camera, they make a film together. This is probably Lang’s first contact with cinematography. Late at night Lang looks at the photographs in Los Angeles and revives in his spirit the imaginary meeting with his friend Gatnik.

Doctor Janez, a somewhat elderly lawyer, tired of urban life, pays a few week's visit to his relative Presecnik, a well-off farmer living in highland village. Farm life holds a great attraction for him, particularly because a deep and secret love develops between himself and Presecnik's daughter Meta. After a few serene and cheerful days spent on the farm, filled with pleasant labor and walks together with Meta in the unspoilt surroundings, he has to return to Ljubljana to resume his office work. But he cannot forget Meta and he makes his mind to buy a property not far from the Presecnik home and and to become a farmer. He does indeed buy a farm and sets out again to the Presecnik home to ask Meta to be his wife.

The team, which deals with the challenges of the television company every day, consists of the director John Smith, his assistant Podrepnik, the energetic marketing director Mercatori, the journalist Samo and his journalist colleague Ana, the secretary Ingrid, the punk videographer Izidor, the director Luka, the waitress Zofka, the extremely practical lighting operator Jože, tireless cleaner Fata and homeless Cojz.

On his return, the main character encounters unusual events, and the line between reality and imagination is increasingly blurred. With the new findings, it faces a key dilemma, namely whether to sell the forest or not.

"So it has come to this..." is certainly the most common closing thought of three couples of different generations who each find themselves facing new challenges in life. Marija and Štefan are pensioners who often almost kill each other out of boredom. Darja and Tomaž are a middle-aged couple whose only son went to study abroad. Nika and Matic are a young couple who have just started their journey together. Nika is dominant and very disciplined, while Matic is a dreamer and an artistic soul. Which, of course, is the reason for many arguments.

In the middle of a hot summer, a homeless woman is murdered in the centre of Ljubljana. At least as much as her death is troubled by the fact that the murder took place in a park right next to the General Police Administration. In addition to Taras's and Tina's relationship, resentment is being drawn from the events at Lake Bohinj over Taras' treatment of the spoiled son of an influential man, so the head of Drvarič assigns the management of the case to Tini instead of Taras. The start of the investigation is not the most promising, as none of the occupants of the park detected anything unusual, even though the windows look out of all the apartments. Yet a criminal investigation reveals that one of them wasn't the most honest.

Ales and Maja are already getting into the routine of being in common lives, and Sandi and Nika are just fresh in love. It pairs with each other they are completely different. Ales and Maja's routine is a little scary for a lover, the playfulness of Sandi and Nika awakens Ales and Maja.
