Reinventing the Wheel Cross-Media Documentary Project 2016

Combining animation, a feature-length documentary and interactive comic art, the Reinventing the Wheel cross-media documentary project tells the story of the biggest historical phenomenon in Slovenia – the oldest wooden wheel in the world, which was discovered in the Ljubljana marshes in 2003. The Animation Bobri voz uses legendary characters from Janez Jalen's novel Bobri to take us to the Stone Age. Then, a feature documentary film Reinventing the Wheel gives us an insight into the phenomenon of the wheel. With the comic strip Bobri voz and its smart phone app, we come full circle, back into the animation.

It could be said that space is never just the absence of matter, but is somehow a step ahead of it. As such, it is the initial principle of what is emerging. The dancers and their movement are embedded in multiple layers of materiality such as texture, skin, air, floor, movement, sound in this poetic short dance film. Just as a membrane envelopes and defines the most basic structure of a cell, it also teaches us about the multi-directionality of our attention. The intelligence of boundaries/“membranes” as spaces of response, bring us a sense of containment, limits and at the same time, provide a doorway through which we turn towards the other.

The Future ... Is Just Like You Imagined

The Future ... Is Just Like You Imagined 2024

The Future ... Is Just Like You Imagined is a short experimental animation film that explores two distinct dystopian futures through the lens of our internet and pop culture imaginarium. It assembles an extensive collection of visual tropes and clichés to depict a grim vision ruled by totalitarian systems of control, coercion and oppression. From brutal autocratic dictatorships to decaying cyberpunk megacities, familiar imagery warns of a self-fulfilling prophecy that may be upon us. The future... is just like you imagined is a part of the multi-year project SND (Spoznavanje narave in družbe, or Studies of Nature and Society) by visual artist Sara Bezovšek in which she reappropriates internet and pop culture references using a dense visual language in order to construct narratives that are both a critique and a celebration of the highly saturated online media landscapes we navigate daily.

The Way of the Samurai is a story full of self-denial, hard work and music, entwined with the art of sport fighting, exhausting training and personal spiritual growth. It is a documentary on the voyage from childhood to manhood, a voyage through unknown and secret places full of surprise. Moments captured on camera are vivid and rich, and the hero's confessional personal and musical style does not sing his own praises. On the contrary - it is an experience par excellence that will surely leave an impression on anyone who is willing to take the hero's journey through genuine and clear narrative ... the story of a Man, the story of a Samurai.
