At the Second Annual Athletic Meet, "The Fat Men's Race" is open to anybody ~ under a ton and a half... The entries are 'Hippo' (Loback) and 'Rhino' (Parrott) who get on the scales to be weighed. Rhino is assisted by extra padding and a third leg supplied by Wallace Howe on the scales in an attempt to boost his weight. The judge spots his attempts to cheat and orders Rhino to carry extra weight in order to qualify for the race so he is stuffed with filled sacks.

Aileen Kennibrew, a charming and beautiful girl calls on one Richard Ellis, a motion picture producer, who is impressed by her modesty, refined personality and striking carriage and is persuaded to "try" her out in the movies. She makes good, and altho' elevated after a few pictures to stardom, becomes obsessed with an overwhelming desire to go on the stage. Finally securing a part with a dramatic stock company, she fall in love with a character man, who, unknown to her, is of degenerate character. Giving him all her love, however, she sets out to reform him with the usual result—but that's the story!
Aase lives together with her old grandfather above the city, and she dreams of going away. Kaare is in love with her, but her dreams seem to come between them.

Lelia Cohanovici, a young Jewish woman from the capital falls in love with Matei Frunză, who is a Christian, but her parents, Nissim and Esther, want her to marry their coreligionist Emil Horn. Old Manasse, the girl's grandfather and the spiritual leader of the Cohanovici family comes all the way from Fălticeni to attend the wedding. But on the day of the ceremony the girl runs away to Matei. The relationship between the two young people and their wish to get married are little by little accepted by the Jewish family members, except for the fanatic Manasse who will die of bitterness when he sees that all his efforts to prevent this fail.
Presented as a comment on the lifestyle of Bombay's rich, the film tells of the wealthy Mr. Nanavati (Sandow) who is attracted to a dancer, Roshanara (Yakbal) who in turn is represented by a Dalal Chhotalal (Noor Mohammed). Chhotalal plans to rob Nanavati and seizes his chance when the rich man buys a gold necklace as a present for his daughter's birthday. Chhotalal tempts Nanavati to visit Roshanara, who then seduces him and obtains the necklace. When Nanavati realizes that he has been duped, he accuses Chhotalal, who has by then switched the necklace for a fake. Roshanara, was based upon a real cabaret dancer of that name.
