Ernest Marrero and Susan Kouguell's ONE DAY FRANZ BROUGHT ME TO HIS HOUSE consists of printed texts from which simultaneous narratives unfold. This unfolding interaction of poetic and public language produces a complex narrative reading.

The daily lives of a group of mentally disabled adults in Chita, Aichi Prefecture. 45 year old Toki strictly observes a daily working routine of simple tasks, straightening books on shelves in a book store, and visiting a regular circuit of pachinko parlors in order to empty their ashtrays. Yanagisawa introduces us to each of the film's subjects in a similar manner: 51 year old Kayo for instance, who fends off everyone with a bamboo stick. The community came into existence quite gradually, inspired by an exchange set up by some of the parents. Overcoming the objections of the local government association, the residents move into a rented building and, working with their guidance staff, they decide to create a facility based on plans they themselves have drawn up. The group then figures out who should be assigned what task as they remodel and finally complete work on the building turning it into a communal work place they dub "Popeye House."

This reimagined poem by Sándor Weöres is the story of an ordinary, grey suburban night, which is transformed by love into an exciting series of visions, a sad and dreamy vision.

A short film about preventing shoplifting in the 1980s.

A film based on a comparison between two locations in Florida, and Maine. It is about remembrance, a subject it treats through the chronicling of events and the development of a idiosyncratic way of seeing. The audience is given the sense of viewing these places through the filter of time and the properties of a particular mind's eye. Original scenes are used much as an Impressionist uses a landscape: visual elements are emphasized using film techniques such as animation and optical printing, and the slow rhythms and random nature of recall are evoked through sound and structure.
