Lithuania's oldest factory breathes life into the next generation of workers and the clay bricks they toil to produce. The spaces, their textures and sounds, transport us to an uncertain, mysterious dimension. The decrepit factory, the Sisyphean labour it extracts, presents us with our own mortality. Like bricks we are but clay.

By casting its gaze to the periphery of Vilnius, Užupis, the film follows the tradition of the first generation of independent filmmakers. The result is the mute portrayal of a furnace caretaker, Jonas Valeiša, and a graphic artist, Šarūnas Leonavičius.

A documentary is based on authentic witness stories and unique archival shots. The main heroes of the film, the then 20-year-olds, after 25 years, remember the events of January 1991, which led to their further fate. The stories are illustrated by the footage stored in personal archives and not yet seen before, which reveals the events of the night of January 13 and the eve of January. In 1991, the filmed amateur shots speak witnesses of the events at the TV tower and the Radio and Television Committee. As a result of the injuries, they testify directly from the hospital wards about the events of the seizure of the most important objects of the country.

A year-long journey during which the camera observes how life develops in various parts of the country, in towns and villages on both sides of the Dniester River. The main character of the film is Moldova—picturesque and unique, happy and sad—like some other post-Soviet states, it is a country of contrasts. Often called a land of fertility and magic, it is even more often misunderstood, and for some people it does not even exist.

When creating the film “Only a Trace Remains,” a connection was established between the film and soil fungi, without the authors expecting to receive any specific results in return. However, the microorganisms were generous. Although part of the film is no longer on the reel, its traces continue to circulate in the ecological system. How can this complex connection be described?

It’s an ordinary evening in the neighborhood: the residents are at home, quietly watching TV. Like everyone else, Penguin loves spending time in front of the screen – alone and undisturbed. However, a new neighbor, Pigeon, moves in, and he enjoys different things – a good party. Unable to share limited resources, the birds start a conflict that can lead to only one thing – catastrophe.

Laimonas is sacked from his work at a theater, where he was working as a stage manager. He is suspected to be gay. For this reason Laimonas is arrested and taken to police station.

In the documentary style, the lives of four Lithuanian prostitutes are portrayed. The human and social tragedy has a touching effect on the viewer, allowing the evident discrepancy between image and narrative to be bridged over.
